The Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior implemented the operational action whose code name is ‘Mozaik 2024’ together with EUROPOL and police agencies from the Republic of Serbia, the Republic of Slovenia, the Republic of Croatia, the Republic of Hungary, the Republic of Montenegro and the Republic of North Macedonia.
Six persons were arrested within the aforementioned operation: a G.Š. from Čelinac, an S.S. from Kotor Varoš, and M.Č. from Doboj, a G.B. from Derventa, a K.E. from Prijedor, and an M.M. from Gradiška, based on suspicion that they committed the criminal offence of ‘Exploitation of Children for Pornography’, from Article 175 of the Republic of Srpska Criminal Code.
The operation was realised by the Unit for countering high-tech crime, Crime Police Administration, in cooperation with the police administrations in Banja Luka, Prijedor, Doboj, and Gradiška and supervised by the competent Prosecutor’s Office.
The listed persons are suspected of using social networks and communication groups to publish and exchange materials of sexual abuse and exploitation of children. In addition, the suspects contacted children, induced children to make pornographic material or sent it to them. The initial information, which led to the detection of perpetrators and the realisation of the operation itself, has been submitted by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).
Based on the orders of competent courts, the searches of seven locations used by the aforementioned persons were performed, and on that occasion, the following means used for perpetration of the criminal offence were found: mobile phones, laptops, USB drives, memory cards, SIM cards, other devices for keeping digital information, and other items that can be related to the perpetration of the criminal offence.
Upon completing the criminal investigation of the aforementioned persons, the reports on the committed criminal offences will be submitted to the competent prosecutor’s offices.
Within this international operation, 63 suspects were investigated, searches were performed on 59 locations, and on that occasion, 327 electronic devices and electronic data carriers were found. Eight victims were identified within the operation.
Crime Police Administration, the Unit for countering high-tech crime, will continue implementing planned activities in future with the aim of detecting and providing evidence for the commission of criminal offences of sexual abuse and exploitation of children.
