MORE THAN 88% OF THE CONTROLLED PARTICIPANTS IN TRAFFIC VIOLATE TRAFFIC REGULATIONS

From 14 to 16 August 2015, with the aim of improving security situation in traffic on the territory of the Republic of Srpska, the Ministry of the Interior organized and realized the campaign titled ‘Increased control of the participants in traffic’ on the territory of Public Security Centers of Banja Luka, Bijeljina and Trebinje.

During the campaign, out of 1,571 traffic participants controlled, 1,388 drivers, or 88.35% of the total number, were sanctioned due to committing minor offenses.

The number of minor offenses of crossing speed limit while driving a motor vehicle was 244 (17.5%), the number of drivers who were excluded from traffic for driving under the influence of alcohol was 162, 40 of which were arrested because the amount of alcohol in their bodies was more than 1g per kilogram.

Also, 23 vehicles were excluded from traffic, because they were not registered or the validity of their registration certificate had expired.

The number of participants who were not using seat belt was 614, or 44.24%.

The Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior will continue performing increased controls of participants in traffic, and focus will be on speed of motor vehicles, driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as sanctioning other minor offenses. We urge all the participants in traffic to act responsibly and follow traffic regulations, since the new school year is about to start and, on the roads of the Republic of Srpska, the number of participants in traffic will increase, such as pedestrians, bicycle riders and passengers in cars.
