MARKING THE 31ST ANNIVERSARY OF ESTABLISHING THE SIXTH DETACHMENT OF THE SPECIAL POLICE BRIGADE OF THE REPUBLIC OF SRPSKA

Today, in Banja Luka, the 31st anniversary of establishing the Sixth Detachment of the Special Police Brigade of the Republic of Srpska was marked by holding a memorial service in the Memorial Church of the Holy Archangel Michael and by laying wreaths at the monument to the fallen members of the Sixth Detachment. In addition, it was marked by visiting the Memorial Room in the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit, which preserves the memories of all members of the Special Police Brigade and their heroic deeds.
Wreaths were laid by the Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Siniša Karan, and Police Director, Mr Siniša Kostrešević, veterans of the Sixth Detachment, representatives of all detachments of the Special Police Brigade, Veterans' Organisation, families of the deceased, and representatives of the City of Banja Luka and others.
Minister Karan said that the police would continue to protect the constitutional order of the Republic of Srpska and the security of the Republic of Srpska itself and all its citizens in this challenging time.
He recalled that 13 members of this brigade gave their lives, making the greatest sacrifice for the Republic of Srpska.
The President of the Veterans’ Association of the Sixth Detachment, Mr Zoran Krajinović, said that 511 members were in this detachment, approximately 200 of them were wounded, and 13 died.
"We were founded with the aim of preserving and defending the Republic of Srpska. We were on the most difficult battlefields," Krajinović said.
