23 PERSONS ARRESTED IN THE INTERNATIONAL OPERATION SEE JAD 2023

                In the framework of the international operation SEE JAD 2023, implemented by police forces from 26 European countries, with the support of Europol, Eurojust, Frontex and Interpol, the police officers of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior have arrested 23 persons on the territory of the Republic of Srpska and detected 20 criminal offences, including 15 criminal offences of ″Illegal manufacturing and trafficking in narcotics″ and 5 criminal offences of ″Illegal manufacturing and trafficking in weapons and explosives″.

                The operation was focused on joint action against illegal trafficking in weapons, narcotics, smuggling migrants and human trafficking and the police officers of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior checked 852 persons and 701 vehicles.  They found and seized 13 rifles, 5 guns and 1 370 pieces of ammunition.

                710 police officers participated in the planned activities, and the activity was coordinated by the Administration for Countering Organized and Serious Crime of the RS MoI, with the support of police administrations Istočno Sarajevo, Prijedor, Doboj and Banja Luka.

                One of the most important activities of the RS MoI in this large-scale joint action was the operation code-named ″CODE″, during which the police officers of the Istočno Sarajevo Police Administration, together with the Administration for Countering Organized and Serious Crime, and in cooperation with Europol, arrested 14 persons accused for the commission of the criminal offence Illegal manufacturing and trafficking in narcotics, thus obtaining illegal financial gain in the amount of BAM 2,750,000.

                The operation targeted several persons who, for a longer period of time on the territory of Istočno Sarajevo, arranged purchase, distribution and payment of heroin, cocaine, marijuana, amphetamine, ecstasy and other substances for the production of narcotics, thus committing the abovementioned criminal offence.

                Across Europe, a total of 22 488 police officers participated in the operation SEE JAD 2023, resulting in the initiation of 163 cases. A total of 215 273 entities and 67 277 vehicles were checked, as well as 5 225 postal packages/parcels.
