CYBER SECURITY FOR MEDIA REPRESENTATIVES

Today, in Banja Luka, the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior organised a lecture for the representatives of media companies, whose title is ‘Common threat sources and protection mechanisms for the information systems of media companies’.
The lecture was held by the head of the Unit for countering cybercrime, Crime Police Administration of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, Mr Olivije Zimonja. The aim of the lecture was pointing to the potential weaknesses of the information systems through the cases of hacker attacks that have occurred against the media companies in the Republic of Srpska, and providing proposals and advice on how media can improve their systems in the sense of increasing their security level. The most recent hacker attacks on media companies and their websites in the Republic of Srpska have proved that media were vulnerable categories.
The Ministry organised the lecture having in mind that the protection of the information system of every institution, including media companies, is one of the pillars of their unobstructed functioning, since journalists themselves, due to the nature of their work and the manner of collecting information in digital sphere are definitely exposed to additional risks.
The representatives of the following media attended the lecture: Radio-televizija Republike Srpske, SRNA, Alternativna televizija, Mondo, capital.ba, Buka and Srpskainfo.
