900 MEMBERS OF THE MINISTRY DONATING BLOOD IN THE VOLUNTARY BLOOD DONATION CAMPAIGN

The Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Siniša Karan, stated today that around 900 members of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior would participate in the voluntary blood donation campaign organized within this Ministry on the occasion of celebrating April 4th, the Police Day, and pointed to the humanitarian component as an important part of police work.
Minister Karan said that this was a traditional activity of the Ministry, which showed numerous examples of humanitarian work of the RS MoI police officers.
He pointed out that this humanitarian component was also an important part of police work, in addition to the basic tasks of preventing crime, maintaining public order and peace, and traffic.
Minister Karan said that students of the High School of Internal Affairs and Police Academy cadets donated blood today.
"They are our future and our strength. Through police work and their motivation to be police officers, they will often say that they wanted to be members of the police because they wanted to help people,” said Karan, who visited the RS MoI members who donated blood, together with the RS Police Director, Mr Siniša Kostrešević.
Ms Gordana Guzijan, Director of the Republic of Srpska Blood Transfusion Institute pointed out that this was a traditional, long-standing campaign, organized throughout Srpska and that it included many applicants.
”This campaign marks the beginning of our collection of blood stock for the upcoming holidays, and we hope that we will be able to provide sufficient blood reserves in all blood transfusion centers for the next period”, said Guzijan.
She reminded the public that they had recently organized many voluntary blood donation campaigns, primarily with secondary schools, including the local Red Cross organizations. Third-grade student of the High School of Internal Affairs, Stefan Damjanović from Bijeljina, said that this was the first time he donated blood and that he was happy to have had the opportunity to help people in that way.
Voluntary blood donation campaigns have been organized today in Istočno Sarajevo and Doboj, and it will be organized in other parts of Srpska during the week.
