CELEBRATION OF THE DAY OF THE HIGH SCHOOL OF INTERNAL AFFAIRS

| Banja Luka | Friday, 29/03/2024

The Day of the High School of Internal Affairs was marked by the ceremony organised in the lecture hall of the Administration for Police Education.
The Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Siniša Karan, said that the students of the High School of Internal Affairs represented the future of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior.
‘A sudden outflow of personnel going into retirement they deserved was an argument to re-establish the High School of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Srpska, in addition to the idea of strengthening qualities in strategic determination of the future staff structure of the Ministry of the Interior’, Minister Karan said.
He added that, within the first year of the newly established High School of the Internal Affairs, the total number of 183 students enrolled the School, and that the conditions for announcing the competition for the following generation of students would be established.
‘Boarding school training, with equipped classrooms and great professors, indicate that we have reached our goal – full integrity of our cadets. Also, I would like to emphasise that this is not just training and education, but also an ethical process of creating a future police officer as a complete person’, Minister Karan said before the beginning of the ceremony.
The Republic of Srpska Minister of Education and Culture, Ms Željka Stojčić, who received the plaque for providing support and help in the process of establishing the High School, said she had been honoured for having the opportunity to be a part of this significant story.
‘Our Ministry was the link that was supposed to create the preconditions for the school to start working. The aim establishing this secondary school is obtaining educated personnel that would guarantee the security of the Republic of Srpska’, Minister Stojičić said.
Director of the High School of Internal Affairs, Mr Aleksandar Miladinović, emphasised the significance of this educational institution that is preparing to accept a class of 150 students in the following school year. ‘We have encountered numerous challenges over the past six months, but we managed to overcome them and obtain certain experience that would be useful for the following class of students’, Mr Miladinović said.
The High School of Internal Affairs was established in 1992, at the same period when the Republic of Srpska was established. The scope of activities of the High School of the Internal Affairs Banja Luka included education and professional training for the future personnel to perform tasks of a policeman – technician for performing police tasks after completing four years of regular secondary school education.
The School worked until 2001, when the last, eighth class was promoted. Within less than ten years of its existence within the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, 1,139 policemen – technicians for performing tasks in the field of security completed their education at this School.
On 30 March 2023, the Republic of Srpska Government adopted the Decision on establishing the Public Institution High School of Internal Affairs.
