MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE REPUBLIC OF SRPSKA MINISTRY OF THE INTERIOR AND THE COUNTER-TERRORISM CENTRE OF THE HUNGARIAN MINISTRY OF INTERIOR

The Republic of Srpska Police Director, Siniša Kostrešević, and the Director General of the Counter-Terrorism Centre of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Hungary, János Hajdu, signed today in Banja Luka Memorandum of Understanding on Strengthening Police Cooperation between the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior and the Counter-Terrorism Centre of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Hungary, with the aim of prevention and detection of criminal offences related to terrorism.
The cooperation includes countering terrorism, exchange of information and best practices, technical and scientific cooperation, as well as cooperation in organizing joint exercises and trainings of the police officers executing the most complex tasks and assignments.
Director Kostrešević said that the main aim of this Memorandum was strengthening the friendly relations and improving the cooperation between the Republic of Srpska and Hungary, through their joint readiness to improve the mutual police cooperation.
  “This was a reasonable step in the development of our mutual police cooperation, since terrorism represents a serious threat to social and economic development, and preventing and countering terrorism requires regional cooperation“, Kostrešević pointed out.
The police officers of the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit are conducting exercises and training with members of the Counter-Terrorism Center of Hungary, who are in an official visit to the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior in Banja Luka. The training focuses on medical training, close-quarter combat tactics, experience exchange of police dog handlers, and the response of a mechanized team in tactical situations.
These activities will continue in the upcoming period at various locations with the aim of professional development and the exchange of experiences between police officers of the Republic of Srpska and Hungary.
