PASSPORT


For issuance or replacement of passport, one shall submit the following documents:

1. Request for issuing passport (in the request, it is obligatory to list the town and municipality where they are entered in birth register and register of citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina)

2. Identity card or other official document based on which the identity, place of residence and citizenship of Bosnia and Herzegovina can be determined

3.Passport that has expired (unless it has been stolen or lost)

4.Proof of payment, in the form of a receipt, of the fee for issuing passport in the amount of 50 BAM, or 50 BAM plus 200 BAM fee (if a party requires that the passport be issued urgently, within 72 hours)

5.Proof of payment of the administrative fee in the amount of 5 BAM.

 

While submitting a request for issuing passport, the applicant is required to provide biometric data (photograph, fingerprints and signature).

The request for issuing passport is an electronic form and it is filled at the counter of the competent authority for issuing passports.

For issuance of passport, a minor shall submit the following documents:

1.Request for issuing passport (in the request, it is obligatory to list the town and municipality where they are entered in birth register and register of citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina)

2.Birth certificate

3.Citizenship certificate (if the child was born outside the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina)

4.Passport:
a) Passport for the citizens from 3 to 18 years of age, whose validity period is 5 years (issuance fee is 40 BAM).
b) Passport for citizens who are less than 3 years old, whose validity period is 3 years (issuance fee is 30 BAM).

5.Consent of both parents, unless:
a) if the child has only one parent alive, the applicant shall submit a copy of the death certificate of the other parent,
b) if the child has no parents alive, the applicant shall submit their guardians’ consent,
v) if one of the parents is impeded to sign their consent on the passport request, they can submit their written consent signed and verified by the competent authority, g)if according to court decision on assigning guardianship, the issuance of passport is not conditioned by the consent of both parents.

6.If, according to court decision on assigning guardianship, the issuance of passport is conditioned by the consent of both parents, the competent authority shall request a written statement on giving consent for the issuance of passport from the parent to whom the guardianship of the minor was not assigned.

7.If the temporary or permanent place of residence of the other parent is unknown, the competent authority shall conduct checks using available records and, in accordance with conducted checks, the request shall be considered.

8.If a minor, for whom the request for passport issuance is submitted, was born within common law marriage, and the other parent refuses to give their consent for passport issuance, the competent authority shall request from the competent social service a written statement on the argument for passport issuance without the consent of the other parent, and consider the request in accordance with this statement.

When submitting the request for passport issuance for a minor, a minor is required to provide biometric data (photograph, fingerprints and signature), with the exception of minors up to 12 years of age, who are not required to provide fingerprints and signature.

Loss, destruction or theft of a passport

In case of a loss, destruction or theft of a passport on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, one shall, on the form ???-1, report the loss, destruction or theft of the passport to the competent police authority on the territory on which the passport has been lost, destroyed or stolen. Along with the aforementioned form, one shall submit a receipt for paying the fee for pronouncing the passport invalid (one shall make the payment to the account of the ‘’Official Gazette of the Republic of Srpska’’ at the counter of a post office or a bank).

If a passport has been lost, destroyed or stolen abroad, one shall:

1.Report the loss, destruction or theft to the nearest diplomatic and consular office of BiH on ??-2 form.
2.Submit a proof of the statement given to a competent police authority on the circumstances of loss, destruction or theft of the passport.
3.Submit a receipt of fee for pronouncing the passport invalid.
