At today’s press conference, the Head of Prijedor Public Security Center, Mr. Ivanić, noted that the situation in the area of Center’s jurisdiction was stable and that there was a continuity of solving the criminal offences  in all fields of work. He pointed out that a situation was good in all fields of work, and that there were not serious crimes which could cause disturbance among citizens on a higher scale. There was no violation of public order and peace to a great extent. He added that, during the analysed period, there were no accidents in which persons died. At the conference, Mr. Ivanić placed a special emphasis on a quick and efficient solving of criminal case ‘’Murder’’, in which a person whose initials are M.M. (born in 1966) from Prijedor was killed by an unknown person on May 14 2016, on the local road Petrov Gaj-Donja Marićka, in the village of Špadići. ’’During the crime scene investigation, material evidences were taken for the purpose of performing further tests, and a 7.9 mm calibre shell was found as well. From the moment the crime was reported, police officers of this Center intensively worked on solving it and undertook all operational-technical and investigative measures and actions with the aim of solving the criminal case and find the unknown perpetrator’’, Mr. Ivanić said. In addition, upon undertaking measures and actions, police officers of the Crime Police of the Public Security Center Prijedor had a reasonable ground for suspicion that the mentioned criminal offence was perpetrated by a person whose initials are R.V. (1992) from the village of Jelićka, near Prijedor. Furthermore, Mr. Ivanić said that yesterday, on May 17 2016, at 9 p.m.,  the suspect was arrested and  immediately after  that the means of performing this criminal offence, M-48 rifle with two 7.9 mm bullets, was found in Jelićka, the hamlet of Šarići, next to one of the local gravel roads in bushes, on rough terrain.  He stressed that the rifle was found 10 km away from the place of criminal offence, adding that the suspect R.V. confirmed that he committed the criminal offence ’’Murder’’ against M.M. using the rifle. Finally, Mr. Ivanić said that the investigation showed so far that the motive of the crime was an amount of money the suspect R.V. owed to the killed M.M.
