Today, Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Srpska, Mr. Dragan Lukač, held senior staff meeting of the Ministry where the activities of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior were discussed as well as the possibilities to improve them. Additionally, Minister Lukač announced the adoption of the new Rulebook on internal organization and systematization of job positions, and that two new administrations would be established: for countering organized and serious crime and for police support. ‘In addition to the Department for countering cybercrime, Forensics department and all departments that are common for all other administrations and centers of the Ministry are going to become a part of the Administration for police support’, Minister Lukač said. He explained that the new organization of the Ministry would improve the functioning of this institution and responding to all challenges, and pointed out the importance of police officers specializing for certain segments, primarily for the most serious criminal offences such as murders, robberies, etc. Furthermore, the Republic of Srpska Police Director, Mr. Gojko Vasić, said that, in the past five months, police had recorded 4,000 criminal offences less than in the same period last year, and that 3,100 persons were reported: 120 of them were minors and 806 were recidivists. Also, Director Vasić said that there were no cases of serious criminal offences committed that remained unsolved. ‘There were ten murders committed, all of which were solved, as well as 18 cases of sex crime. The number of vehicle thefts is decreasing since there were 45 cases reported in this period. The number of car theft cases is four to five times lower compared to those in the countries in the region’, Director Vasić said. He added that the Ministry had good cooperation not only with police agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also with police agencies in the countries in the region.
