DIRECTOR ĆULUM MET WITH THE REPRESENTATIVES OF THE EUROPEAN MONITORING CENTRE FOR DRUGS AND DRUG ADDICTION

Today, in Banja Luka, the Republic of Srpska Police Director, Mr. Darko Ćulum, met with Ms. Ilze Jekabsone, the representative of the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA). Director Ćulum informed the representatives of EMCDDA that Police of the Republic of Srpska performed regular monitoring of the emergence of new types of narcotic drugs, and said that it was determined in countering this type of crime and it participated in ION project which provided contacts with the International Narcotics Control Board (INCD). On this occasion, the role of Team for Monitoring the Implementation of Strategy for Monitoring Narcotic Drugs was emphasized, and this team provides expert and technical support to the Committee for Countering the Abuse of Narcotic Drugs of the Republic Srpska. Director Ćulum expressed his gratitude to the representatives of EMCDDA for their visit and offered assistance, regarding the fact that these trends affect the most vulnerable populations in society.  In addition, the working meeting regarding the establishment of the system of early detection of new types of narcotic drugs in the Republic Srpska and BIH (EWS-Early Warning System) was held today, in Banja Luka. The meeting was initiated by the European Monitoring Centre for Drug and Drug Abuse, which recognized the preventive activities in this field, which are implemented by the Ministry of the Interior and the Committee for Countering the Abuse of Narcotic Drugs of the Republic of Srpska. In addition to the representatives of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, the meeting was attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Health and Social Care, the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Ministry of Family, Youth, and Sport, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Security BIH, the University Clinical Centre in Banja Luka,  Public Health Institution, Institute for Protection of Health, the University of Banja Luka, NGO Viktorija, Public Institution Therapeutic Community of Canton Sarajevo, and experts from Croatia.
