Police officers from the Unit for countering high-tech crime, Crime Police Administration of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, participated in the international operation whose code name is ‘AI4KIDS’, and, in cooperation with the police officers from police administrations in Bijeljina, Istočno Sarajevo, and Doboj, they arrested three persons. 

For these persons, there are grounds for suspicion that they committed the criminal offence ‘Exploitation of Children for Pornography’ from Article 175 of the Republic of Srpska Criminal Code. 

The police officers of the Unit for countering high-tech crime, within the operation implemented in cooperation with the Interpol and the Ministry of the Interior of the United Arab Emirates, searched platforms using AI tools, internet pages, and forums with the aim of finding photographs and videos of sexual abuse and children exploitation, photographs and videos of sexual abuse and children exploitation online, created using artificial intelligence, as well as finding specialized platforms that enable the creation of such photographs and videos. 

Following the orders of the competent courts, searches were performed on three locations used by the suspects, and on that occasion, mobile phones were detected and seized, as well as laptops, USB sticks, memory cards, SIM cards and other devices for storing digital information, as well as other items that may be related to the commission of the criminal offence. 

The persons are suspected that they used social networks, published and exchanged materials containing sexual abuse and exploitation of children through communication groups, they contacted children, sent them and led them to make materials containing child pornography. 

In future, Crime Police Administration will implement planned activities focused on detecting and providing evidence for the criminal offences of sexual abuse and exploitation of children, as well as propose publishing information that refer to using artificial intelligence safely. The most significant education is on the safe use of technologies, as well as establishing clear rules, which can help in minimizing risk.
