The Law on amendments to the Law on permanent and temporary residence of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be in force as of tomorrow, 29 July 2015. The new Law stipulates that it is obligatory for citizens to provide correct information when registrating and deregistrating their place of residence. This means that, in the procedure of registering their place of residence and their address, it is obligatory for citizens to attach the proof that they have a valid basis for residing at the address on which they would like to be registered. It is obligatory for them to attach a proof of ownership, co-ownership or possession of a flat, house or other residential buildings. Also, a lease contract and a contract of tenancy are also valid proofs. A spouse or common-law partner or relatives may register their place of residence at an address only by attaching proof of being married or having a common-law partner. The Law also stipulates registering place of residence for homeless people in cooperation with bodies of social welfare. Citizens shall register their place of residence within 15 days from the day of settling at an address of their residence.
