In September, on the occasion of the beginning of the new school year, the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior will be performing the prevention campaign called ‘Let’s protect children in traffic’ on the territory of all Public Security Centers. The first group of activities is going to be realized in the first half of the month in cooperation with school directors and pedagogues by organizing lectures for all students of lower grades. The topic of these lectures is related to safe and proper participation of pedestrians in traffic. The second group of activities is going to be realized during the whole month by intensifying police activities and their increased presence in urban zones and near school facilities. The emphasis is going to be on controlling vehicle speed, respecting the driver-pedestrian relationship, controlling technical functioning of buses used for transporting students, etc. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to apply in practice what they have learned, see what it is like to be a policeman, get additional instructions on rules, and thus become more responsible participants in traffic. The Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior urges all the participants in traffic to act responsibly and follow traffic regulations, since increased number of students in traffic is expected in the beginning of the school year. On the occasion of the beginning of ‘Let’s protect children in traffic’ campaign, statements for media are going to take place today, on 31 August 2015, at 11:30 a.m., in front of the main building of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior (4 Bulevar Desanke Maksimović Street), and journalists are going to be addressed by the chief inspector at the Unit for Traffic Safety, Mr. Goran Šmitran.
