LECTURES ON ‘FACEBOOK ABUSE PREVENTION’

Today, on 15 December 2015, in the town of Doboj, at primary school ‘Vuk Stefanović Karadžić’, a lecture, whose topic is ‘Facebook Abuse Prevention’, was held. The aim of the lecture was to raise students’ awareness on security regarding the risks and dangers of using Facebook as well as teaching the youngest Facebook users how to adjust the use of this Internet page to socially acceptable and affirmative way to communicate. About 130 students of 9th grade were present at the lecture organized by the Administration for Police Education, Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Srpska, and Public Security Center Doboj. Inspector at the College of the Interior in Banja Luka, and a lecturer on this occasion, Mr. Aleksandar Miladinović, pointed out that one of the prevention mechanisms regarding Facebook abuse was educating students how to protect their profile and how they can preclude negative consequences should they occur. According to him, the most common forms of abuse of Facebook profiles are misusing photographs, stealing profiles, deceits, recruiting, and hate speech, whereas the most extreme forms are those at the level of a criminal offences committed in real time, whose result can be murders, suicides, and bullying. Furthermore, Mr. Miladinović said that every Facebook user should report to the police any negative activity they believe to be breaking social rules. Within their regular activities, the police are going to undertake the necessary measures and activities for the purpose of confirming whether the reported activity has any features of a criminal offence, minor offence or any other form of behavior that could initiate a minor offence.
