ACTION OF INCREASED CONTROL OF TRAFFIC PARTICIPANTS PERFORMED IN THE AREA OF BANJA LUKA, GRADIŠKA, MRKONJIĆ GRAD, LAKTAŠI AND PRNJAVOR

On 12, 13 and 17 December 2015, in the City of Banja Luka and in the municipalities of Gradiška, Mrkonjić Grad, Laktaši and Prnajvor, the police officers from Public Security Center Banja Luka performed an action of increased control of traffic participants with the aim of improving the traffic security conditions. During the action, out of the total of 533 controlled traffic participants, 469 of them were punished due to 492 traffic violations they committed. The largest number of violations was registered in the City of Banja Luka (201), then Prnjavor (123), Laktaši (99), Gradiška (42) and Mrkonjić Grad (27). As a result of driving cars under the influence of alcohol, 67 drivers were punished: 2 of them were detected with the level of 2 ‰ of alcohol in blood; 11 of them with the level that varied from 1‰ to 2‰ of alcohol in blood and 54 of them were detected with the level of 1‰ of alcohol in blood. Due to exceeding the speed limit, 146 drivers were punished; 76 of them were punished in the area of Banja Luka; 41 of them in the area of Prnjavor; 24 of them in the area of Laktaši and 5 of them in the area of Gradiška.  As a consequence of technical malfunction of vehicles, 39 drivers were punished; 23 of them were punished in the Banja Luka area; 12 of them in the area of Laktaši and 4 of them in the area of Gradiška. No vehicle was caught in traffic due to technical malfunction of vital driving mechanisms. Without valid registration 7 vehicles were detected, 8 persons were caught who didn’t meet the requirements for taking the exam in order to obtain driving licence, whereas 4 vehicles were registered with the expired certificate of registration. It was registered that 125 persons (both drivers and passengers) had not used seat belts while driving, 1 person because of not using motorcycle helmet, 23 drivers for not using regulated lights in traffic and 26 drivers for not having document on vehicle registration. The minor offences were committed by 3 pedestrians. The total number of 9 vehicles and 66 drivers were excluded from traffic, 58 of them were excluded because of driving under the influence of alcohol. Public Security Center Banja Luka urges all traffic participants to follow legal regulations on traffic safety. Police officers are going to continue performing the increased control of traffic participants.
