On 2 January 2016, around 9:10 AM, while performing their regular tasks and activities, police officers from the Police Station Banja Luka-Obilićevo saw and elderly male person lying on a grass area in Starog Vujadina Street, in the city of Banja Luka. The person had difficulties to breathe, frostbites and it was not easy to communicate with him. In order to avoid making his health condition worse, police officers could not move him, so they immediately called the ambulance service, and kept the person awake until the ambulance came. After the person was taken to the University Clinical Center of the Republic of Srpska, where he was held for further treatment, checks were performed and it was confirmed that the person is a 70-year-old R. B., who was reported missing on 1 January 2016. Thanks to the timely reaction of the police officers, the person was promptly taken to hospital, which saved his life. With their act, police officers once again showed the humane side of police work.
