A SUSPECT ARRESTED 20 MINUTES AFTER COMMITTING A CRIMINAL OFFENCE

Thanks to fast and coordinated activities performed by the police officers from the Crime Police Sector at PSC Banja Luka and Banja Luka-Center Police Station after the criminal offence was committed, on 4 January 2016, at about 1:50 AM, an M.K., born in 1981, was found and arrested based on suspicion that he committed a criminal offence ‘Robbery’. The person is suspected that, on the same night, at about 1:20 AM, together with another person, who was also wearing a mask on their face, armed with a gun and an axe, he came to a petrol station in Manjačkih ustanika Street, in the city of Banja Luka. After that, the suspects entered the premises of the petrol station and, under the threat of using the firearm and the axe, they stole the computer and an amount of money which is yet to be confirmed. Later, they used a car, brand ‘Citroen C4’ to leave the crime scene. Upon being informed that a criminal offence was committed, police officers reacted quickly and identified the aforementioned passenger car which hit a tree in Carice Milice Street while the suspects were trying to escape. Then, the suspects left the vehicle and continued to run, but the police officers quickly caught M.K. and arrested them, whereas the police are still looking for the other person. The investigation was performed at the crime scene and also at the location where the passenger car was found; the traces and items that could serve as evidence in the criminal procedure were taken as well. In the vehicle, the items, the gun and the axe, used for the commission of the criminal offence were found as well as the bag with the stolen money. Further investigation showed that the vehicle ‘Citroen C4’ was stolen in the night between 18 and 19 December 2015 from the parking space in Bore Stankovića Street. Upon being informed about this case, the prosecutor on duty from the District Prosecutor’s Office in Banja Luka ordered the criminal investigation to be performed and the necessary measures and actions with the aim of finding the other person and proving the aforementioned criminal offence to be continued. Further measures and actions against the person shall be undertaken within the legal deadline in accordance with the instructions of the prosecutor on duty at District Prosecutor’s Office in Banja Luka.
