The Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior appeals to drivers to drive more carefully because, from the next Monday, the number of students on streets is going to increase due to the beginning of the second semester of the school year 2015/16. Drivers, especially the ones who do not have a lot of driving experience, are advised to drive carefully, particularly near schools, kindergartens, parks, and playgrounds, to drive according to the speed allowed, but also to pay attention to how the youngest traffic participants act in traffic. With the beginning of the classes, the presence of the police officers near educational facilities and on the roads, where many children will be walking, is going to be increased. Moreover, the police officers are going to intensify the monitoring of traffic with special emphasis on vehicle speed, respect of driver-pedestrian relationship and technical maintenance of buses used for student transport. Also, illegally parked vehicles in school zones, especially in pedestrian crossing zones, are going to be removed, and other minor offences which could threaten the safety of children will be sanctioned. Regarding all the aforementioned facts, the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior would like to remind the citizens that it is the duty of all traffic participants to act in order to protect the youngest ones and to adjust their driving to weather and road conditions.
