During February, the Republic of Srpska Ministry of Interior is carrying out the campaign "Seatbelt" that aims to provide a higher percentage of using safety seatbelts and child car seats, with the purpose of decreasing consequences that may be brought to individuals in car accidents. The campaign is carried out on the territory of all public security centers in the Republic of Srpska. The analysis of number of issued minor offence warrants on not using safety seatbelts shows a high number of such minor offences in traffic. During 2015, 33,575 minor offence warrants for not using seatbelts during driving have been issued, as well as 527 minor offence warrants for driving children less than five years old who were no properly fastened in a safety seat. We would like to remind our citizens that, according to the Law on traffic safety on the roads of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the fine for not using a seatbelt is BAM 30, whereas for the drivers who do not follow the provisions regarding safety seats for children, the fine is BAM 40. The Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior appeals to drivers, passengers, as well as those who drive children in their cars, to follow provisions related to the use of protection seatbelts and safety seats while driving in order to increase their safety and the safety of other participants in traffic.
