The Republic of Srpska

The Republic of Srpska Ministry of Interior has successfully implemented the preventive campaign called "Firecrackers are not toys" with the purpose of control and prevention of abuse of firecrackers. Besides public campaigns in all the cities and municipalities in the Republic of Srpska, more than 200 lectures concerning the dangers that unprofessional and careless handling of pyrotechnics may carry have been organized in schools and local communities, and a few thousand pieces of different types of firecrackers have been seized. From December 15, 2015 to January 15, 2016, members of the Republic of Srpska MoI have organized continuous actions with municipal services on suppression of illegal sales and abuse of firecrackers. Important results have been achieved after the implementation of the operation, particularly: -          on the territory of PSC Banja Luka 965 pieces of firecrackers have been seized and one request for initiation of minor offence proceedings has been submitted against one natural and one legal person; -          the total of 2833 pieces of different types of firecrackes has been seized on the territory of PSC Doboj. The fact that there was one case of self-injuring on the territory of PSC Doboj during the holidays caused by unprofessional handling of pyrotechnics shows real danger that lies beneath abuse of firecrackers. The injured person has suffered severe injuries of his hand, right leg and eyes. All organizational units of the RS MoI shall continue their work that includes control and sanctions against abuse of objects and substances whose sales is illegal or banned, with the purpose of suppression and prevention of harmful consequences that may be caused by unprofessional and careless use.
