MINISTER OF HOME AFFAIRS OF THE KINGDOM OF SWEDEN VISITING THE REPUBLIC OF SRPSKA MINISTRY OF THE INTERIOR

Today, on 23 February 2016, in Banja Luka, the Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr. Dragan Lukač, met with the Minister of Home Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden, Mr. Anders Ygeman. On this occasion, the ministers confirmed that the cooperation of security agencies from the Republic of Srpska and the Kingdom of Sweden was excellent. They especially emphasized the success achieved in countering terrorism and all forms of organized crime, and pointed out the possibility of cooperation regarding the issue of migrant crisis. ‘Within the past year, we conducted several joint actions with the security agencies from the Kingdom of Sweden, which resulted in arresting persons dealing with illegal trade of weapons and narcotic drugs’, Minister Lukač said. Minister Ygeman pointed out that the Kingdom of Sweden and the Republic of Srpska had common problems related to countering terrorism and organized crime. ‘The best way of fighting against these problems is to join our forces. It is necessary to expand our cooperation on both political and operational level’, Minister Ygeman said. Finally, at the end of the meeting, ministers expressed their wish and readiness to continue the successful cooperation.
