TERRORISM AND CYBER CRIME – MAIN TOPICS OF THE MEETINGS MINISTER LUKAČ ATTENDED AT HOME OFFICE AND FOREIGN OFFICE OF THE UNITED KINGDOM OF GREAT BRITAIN AND NORTHERN IRELAND

The main conclusion of the meetings Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Srpska had at the Home Office and Foreign Office of the Great Britain and Northern Ireland is that information exchange and operational cooperation are essential for fighting against terrorism. At the meeting held in London with the head of the Department for international cooperation at the National Counter Terrorism Security Office of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Mr. Ananda Guha, Minister Lukač agreed that the citizens of BIH and other countries who go to foreign battlefields represent a big threat for the security of not only one country, but for wider area as well, and that this issue should be an area of special interest for police agencies. Director of the Directorate for Europe, Mr. Lindsay Appleby, and head of Department for Western Balkans and EU Enlargement Department at Foreign Office, Ms. Fiona McIlwham expressed their gratitude for the openness of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior and commended the improvement of cooperation with other police agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The representatives of the Home Office and Foreign Office of Great Britain and Northern Ireland pointed out that it was through the joint actions the Department for countering cybercrime of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior had realized with the National Crime Agency and Metropolitan Police that it was confirmed that our police officers were ready to fight successfully even against the most complex forms of cybercrime, regardless of their limited resources. One of the managers at the National Cyber Crime Unit, NCA, Mr. Ben Russell, said that this agency had excellent cooperation with the Department for countering cybercrime of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, and that this cooperation was constantly being improved not only through operational activities and information exchange, but also trainings, developing special software, etc. As a part of his visit to London, Minister Lukač visited the Security and Policing Home Office event, gathering experts – representatives of police agencies and military forces from all over the world whose duty is security, civil protection and national security. At this event, leading world products and services related to security were presented.
