DIRECTOR OF THE REPUBLIC ADMINISTRATION FOR CIVIL PROTECTION VISITING GRADIŠKA AND SRBAC

Today, Director of the Administration for Civil Protection of the Republic of Srpska, Mr Veseljko Elez, visited the municipalities of Srbac and Gradiška, where he met with the representatives of local authorities and discussed the current hydrological situation. On this occasion, Director Elez stated that although in the following days, the increased amount od rainfall was not expected in the Republic of Srpska, the Administration of Civil Protection was always monitoring the water level of the biggest rivers in the Republic of Srpska. Therefore, he emphasized, they were going to be ready to react on the possible increase of water level. ’’I think there should not be any problems with water levels and we are ready to react where necessary’’, said Director Elez. Head of the municipality of Srbac, Mr Drago Ćirić, said that the curent water level of the river Sava in Srbac is 890 cm and that the activities concerning regular flood protection start at the point of 860 cm, whereas the activities concerning emergency flood protection start at the point of 940 cm. ’’ We are still at the stage of regular flood protection. The river Vrbas is in its riverbed and it represents no threat, so we hope that the river Sava will also be of no threat’’, said Mr Ćirić. He also added that in the municipality of Srbac, 12 households were flooded, but none of the houses were under water.
