The Republic of Srpska

Today, at the Institute for Transfusion Medicine of the Republic of Srpska, the Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr. Dragan Lukač, and the Police Director, Mr. Gojko Vasić, attended the beginning of the voluntarily blood donation which is organized today and tomorrow on the occasion of the Police Day of the Republic of Srpska. Minister Lukač said that around 500 members of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior participated in the action. He pointed out that, in addition to the police members, students of the College of the Interior and cadets at the Police Academy participated as well.  The Police Director, Mr. Gojko Vasić pointed out the importance of participation of the members of Ministry of the Interior in this human action which could contribute to saving human lives, and in which he himself participated as a blood donor in previous years. Traditionally, twice a year, the members of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior participate in action of voluntarily blood donations, and provide around a thousand blood doses per year for hospitals on the territory of the Republic of Srpska. The Director of the Institute for Transfusion Medicine of the Republic of Srpska, Ms. Gordana Guzijan pointed out that the members of the Ministry of the Interior responded in extraordinary situations when there was a blood shortage. She added that the action was being conducted at nine branch offices of the Institute, and that there would be enough  blood supplies for all hospitals in the Republic of Srpska.
