Today, the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior celebrated the Police Day and 24th anniversary of its existence through various activities and events. The celebration of the Police Day started by the consecration of the memorial plaque for the fallen members of the Special Police Brigade in the borough of Trn, and was attended by the Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Srpska, Mr. Dragan Lukač, and Police Director, Mr. Gojko Vasić. Furthermore, there was a memorial service and lighting candles for the fallen members of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior at the Church of the Nativity of the Holy Mother of God at Rebrovac, and then wreaths were placed on the memorial plaque in front of the building of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior. On the occasion of the Police Day, members of the Special Police Unit performed a demonstration exercise at Banja Luka University Centre. The formal ceremony held at the Administration for Police Education was an opportunity for the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior to express their gratefulness to its members for their commitment while performing their tasks, to organizations and institutions that provide support to the activities performed by the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior and its members. Minister Lukač and Police Director Vasić awarded the Golden Police Badge and the Silver Police Badge, recognitions and acknowledgements to the most successful members of the Ministry. Also, the President of the Republic of Srpska awarded Medals of Merit for the People posthumously to the 44 members of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior who were killed in the war. Additionally, Minister Lukač pointed out that the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior was working on the improvement of their work on a daily basis by educating rejuvenating the staff as well as including new and more contemporary equipment in police activities.
