The Republic of Srpska

The Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior is going to support the project ‘Fighting Against International Trafficking of Weapons’, which is to be realised by Great Britain in cooperation with police agencies in the region – this was agreed on today’s meeting of the delegation of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, Great Britain Ministry of Justice and the Embassy of Great Britain to Bosnia and Herzegovina. The participants of the meeting concluded that the cooperation of Great Britain and the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior would be realised by collecting, analysis and exchange of intelligence information, investigations, illegal weapons control and capacity building – all this with the aim of improving international response to security threat the trafficking of weapons represents. The terrorist attack that occurred last year in Paris, as well as the recent terrorist attacks in France and Germany have shown that illegal weapons may cause serious damage. Additionally, fact that terrorists obtain illegal weapons easily points to the weaknesses in the system of controlling and monitoring the whole process, from production to distribution of illegal weapons to final users, thus requiring a unified international response.
