The Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, in cooperation with the USA Embassy in BIH and International Program of the USA Department of Justice in the field of criminal investigative training assistance (ICITAP) in BIH, realized the preventive action ‘’Stop Corruption’’ within which police officers of Banja Luka Public Security Centre distributed promotional material to citizens regarding the procedure of reporting and processing criminal offences of corruption. Mr. Miroslav Đukić, an inspector in Police Sector of Public Security Centre Banja Luka, said that the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior was highly devoted to the fight against corruption, and for that purpose, it created several Internet applications and provided free phone line for reporting these types of criminal offences. He mentioned the application ‘’Report suspicions about corruption and other irregularities’’ by which citizens may report suspicions on irregularities in the institutions of the Republic of Srpska anonymously or publically via Internet, and police officers would check the content of a report after the report was submitted. ‘’If some citizens have information that certain police officers may be related to some corruptive activities, they may report them, and the report shall be immediately forwarded to the unit for professional standards implementing the internal procedure’’, inspector Đukić said. He mentioned free phone line, number: +38751/ 219-300, through which citizens may report all forms of corruption. With the aim of fighting corruption, Ministry of the Interior equipped all premises for issuing personal documents with video surveillance. Furthermore, the most modern devices for measuring vehicle speed are put in function, and each of these devices has memory that cannot be affected by a police officer, and in that way, it reduces the possibility of corruption. Measures of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior are also related to organizing professional conferences and seminars with the aim of raising awareness of police officers in order to be more efficient and professional in fighting corruption. The action of distributing leaflets is organized with the aim of raising and developing awareness of citizens in fighting criminal offences in the field of corruption.
