BETTER RESULTS THAN IN 2015

The Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr. Dragan Lukač, said that the number of criminal offences was reduced in all fields of crime and the number of solved criminal cases increased during 2016, which indicated that the Republic of Srpska Police had worked much harder and made better results than previous year. At press conference in Banja Luka, held after the Staff Meeting, Minister Lukač pointed out that the security level in the Republic of Srpska during 2016 was satisfactory. He said that the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior provided good organization and security during six big gatherings with high security risk this year. ‘’Tonight, Ministry of the Interior is securing the humanitarian action and concert under the patronage of the Republic of Srpska President, and a great number of police officers is going to be involved in securing the celebration and parade on 9 January (the Republic of Srpska Day)’’, Minister Lukač said. In addition, he said that capacities of Ministry of the Interior were going to be increased in 2017, regarding human and material resources for the purpose of fighting against organized crime, corruption, terrorism, but also protecting citizens, their property and lives. ‘’We plan to employ up to 200 young policemen with the Ministry of the Interior, who are finishing the Police Academy, and, in February, we will open the competition for the selection of new policemen who will be educated in this Academy’’, Minister Lukač said. Furthermore, he noted that the reorganization of the Ministry of the Interior was performed, that is, four new administrations were formed this year, with the aim of providing greater security in the Republic of Srpska, fighting against organized crime, corruption, terrorism, but also protecting citizens, their property and lives.
