Today, on the occasion of marking 4 April, the Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr. Dragan Lukač, held a traditional meeting with retired members of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior. Minister Lukač said that identification cards were made for retired police officers of the Republic of Srpska in accordance with the Law on Police and Internal Affairs, and that they would be able to identify themselves in any place as retired members of the Ministry of the Interior. ‘’It has not been regulated by the Law until now, and retired police officers did not have these identification cards’’, Minister Lukač said. Furthermore, he urged all retired members of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior to submit a request for issuing this identification card. Minister Lukač provided an identification card of retired members of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior to Mr. Milorad Tešić and Mr. Nikola Matijević. He expressed his satisfaction since he had an opportunity to host 14 retired police officers and discuss how they live, how they could be engaged in the work of police and assist police officers in the field. ’’Since they have great experience in this job, they often notice things happening around then somebody who is not involved in security affairs’’ Minister Lukač said. The Republic of Srpska Police Director, Mr. Darko Ćulum, said that they discussed the security situation in the Republic of Srpska, how satisfied retired police officers are, and how they can help the Republic of Srpska Police, at the reception for retired police officers. ‘’The Republic of Srpska Police expect that pensioners and our citizens who are obliged to assist police will provide their help’’, Director Ćulum said. Retired members of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, Mr. Milorad Tešić from Bijeljina and Mr. Nikola Matijević from Banja Luka, expressed their gratitude for reception and pointed out that identification cards of retired police officers would mean a lot to them since it was the proof of their work within the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior.
