Today, in Banja Luka, the Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr. Dragan Lukač, and the Republic of Srpska Police Director, Mr. Darko Ćulum, attended the technical and tactical training event, within which part of the equipment used by the Police and vehicles used by the Ministry of the Interior were shown, as well as certain tactical exercises performed by the Unit for operational support Banja Luka.   Minister Lukač said that the police showed a good level of skills and training at the technical training event in Banja Luka, and that the plan was to raise the police readiness to the highest possible level. In addition, Minister Lukač said that certain funds were invested last year and that new weapons were obtained for the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit and Unit for operational support. ‘’All members received new pistols and guns, and the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit received new sniper rifles that no special unit in region has at the moment ’’, Minister Lukač said. Furthermore, he said that the police would obtain new modern uniform this year since the old uniforms needed to be replaced. ‘’ Our police officer has to be recognizable at street so that every citizen can immediately recognize the Republic of Srpska police officer ’’ Minister Lukač said. He stressed that the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior was working on education of young police officers, and that the competition was opened for 200 new members of the Police Academy. ‘’At the moment, there are 123 new young men who finished the Police Academy and who have work practice with senior police officers.  Once this work practice finishes, they will be deployed throughout the Republic of Srpska’’, Minister Lukač said.
