THE REPUBLIC OF SRPSKA PRESIDENT VISITING THE BASE OF THE SPECIAL ANTI-TERRORIST UNIT

Today, on the occasion of marking the Police Day and the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, the Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr. Dragan Lukač, and the President of the Republic of Srpska, Mr. Milorad Dodik, visited the base of the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit, where they placed wreaths at the memorial to the fallen members of the Special Police Brigade. On this occasion, members of the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit showed equipment and means used in their work, and then performed the exercise. Minister Lukač said that it was a traditional visit of the President to units of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior on the occasion of marking the Police Day. In addition, he said that it was one of the activities marking the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior. Furthermore, he said that the memorial to 782 fallen members of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior would be revealed tomorrow within the central ceremony. ‘’They are our heroes who gave their lives for the Republic of Srpska’’, Minister Lukač said. The President of the Republic of Srpska, Mr. Milorad Dodik, said that the Republic of Srpska Police, which marked 25th anniversary of the establishment, were of great importance for the Republic of Srpska. ‘’ In many places, police have been the decisive factor for preservation of peace, lives, and material goods of our people throughout BIH. Police have the honorable role, and police defended freedom and position of the Republic of Srpska’’, the President of the Republic of Srpska, Mr. Dodik, emphasized, and congratulated the Police Day to all members. Furthermore, he pointed out that the intensive work was performed on training members of the Ministry of the Interior, as well as obtaining technical means, such as weapons and vehicles necessary for performing tasks. He said that facilities for training and education in former ‘’Zalužani’’ barracks would be reconstructed and built for the needs of units and administrations of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior. ‘’We must do our best to support members of the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit also through their personal incomes, since these conditions are special living and working conditions for an individual’’, President Dodik said to the press.
