CELEBRATION OF THE REPUBLIC OF SRPSKA POLICE DAY AND 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE EXISTENCE OF THE REPUBLIC OF SRPSKA MINISTRY OF THE INTERIOR

Today, the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior celebrated the Police Day and the 25th anniversary of its existence. Within the central ceremony which was held in Banja Luka, the monument for 782 fallen members of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior was unveiled and consecrated, and then solemn academy was held. The monument in front of the building of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior was unveiled by the Republic of Srpska President, Mr. Milorad Dodik, the Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr. Dragan Lukač, and Ivana Lizdek, daughter of Mile Lizdek, a police officer who died in April in 1992, in Vraca in Sarajevo. After the monument was unveiled, the monument was consecrated by His Grace Bishop of Banja Luka, Mr. Jefrem, and then wreaths were placed by the Republic of Srpska President and the Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, and also by the Republic of Serbia Minister of the Interior, Mr. Nebojša Stefanović, Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska Government, Ms. Željka Cvijanović, the Republic of Srpska Police Director, Mr. Darko Ćulum, delegation of the National Assembly, etc. Within solemn academy which was held in Banski Dvor Cultural Center, recognitions were also awarded this year to the members of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior for performing entrusted jobs and tasks competently and professionally, and expressing persistence and courage.  The Golden Police Badge was awarded to Mr. Branko Raca and Mr. Đorđe Šebez from Police Station Banja Luka, and Mr. Goran Pavlović from Police Station Bijeljina. The Silver Police Badge was awarded to the Head of Department for countering terrorism and extremism, Ms. Branka Ćurguz from Public Security Center Doboj, and a crime police officer from Police Station Gacko, Mr. Miljan Mirić. Furthermore, acknowledgements for outstanding results in performing their work were awarded to a greater number of members of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior. On this occasion, Minister Lukač awarded the Golden Police Badge to prominent international partners, such as: the Republic of Serbia Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden, the Republic of Italy Ministry of the Interior, the Republic of Slovenia Ministry of the Interior, and Federal Bureau of Investigation. In his speech, the Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr. Dragan Lukač, said that the members of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior who created and defended the Republic of Srpska must never be forgotten, including 782 police officers who gave their lives for freedom of the Republic of Srpska. ‘’ They are all additional reason to make more energy, effort, and knowledge for developing the Ministry of the Interior as a contemporary, democratic service opened towards society and citizens, and whose main task is to make the Republic of Srpska safe
