Mr Dragan Lukač, Minister of the Interior of Republic of Srpska, attended the demonstration of tactical exercise "Coordination 2017" that was organized in the area of Detention and Rehabilitation Centre (KPZ) Banja Luka. The exercise was performed by the members of the KPZ Police, Special Anti-terrorist Unit of the RS MoI, Support Unit of the Police Administration Banja Luka, Intervention Unit of the Court Police, and the Republic of Srpska Helicopter Service. After the exercise, Minister Lukač has stated that the exercise has demonstrated the efficiency and capability of police officers to deal with problems that might appear in prison facilities or as a part of an outside attack to the prison. He emphasized the importance of cooperation with other institutions in order to act preventively on persons who are serving prison sentence and might try to escape, or to persons who have the intention to perform an outside attack to the KPZ. Minister Lukač has also announced a similar exercise of greater scope in the near future, with more units that would participate in it. Exercise "Coordination 2017" consisted of four stages: prevention of assassination of a high-risk individual who was taken to the prison facility, prevention of escape of several persons from the KPZ which was carried out with the assistance of dogs and the vehicle with an assistant, and escape of several persons who have blown up the gate using explosives, which was prevented in coordination of several units and the Helicopter Service, and finally prevention of a rebellion in the Centre and detection of drugs in prison units with the assistance of hound dogs.
