The Republic of Srpska

The Republic of Srpska Ministry of Interior reminds the citizens that starting from November 15, 2017 to April 15, 2017 all motor vehicles are required to use adequate winter equipment, regardless of the weather conditions. Winter equipment includes: a) for private motor vehicles and other motor vehicles with gross mass not more than 3,500 kg and with no more than 8 car seats: 1. Winter pneumatics on all four wheels. Winter tire (pneumatic) must be marked on the sidewall with the following marks: MS, M+S or M&S and three-peak mountain snowflake symbol (3PMSF), the minimum tread depth being 4mm. 2. Summer-profile tires with minimum tread depth of 4mm and adequate chains that are fitted on the drive wheels in case of winter weather conditions. b) for private motor vehicles whose gross mass exceeds 3,500 kg and buses: 1. Winter pneumatics on drive wheels. Winter tire (pneumatic) must be marked on the sidewall with the following marks: MS, M+S or M&S and three-peak mountain snowflake symbol (3PMSF), the minimum tread depth being 4mm. Other parts of obligatory winter equipment for this category of vehicles include snow chains and tool kit (shovel, sand bags of 25 to 50 kg), 2. Summer-profile tires with minimum tread depth of 4mm and adequate chains that are fitted on the drive wheels in case of winter weather conditions. Other parts of obligatory winter equipment for this category of vehicles include snow chains and tool kit (shovel, sand bags of 25 to 50 kg). The Law on Road Traffic Safety in Bosnia and Herzegovina prescribes the fine in the amount of 40 BAM for drivers whose vehicles do not have suitable winter equipment. We would also like to remind the drivers that, according to the Law on Road Traffic Safety in the Republic of Srpska, they have the obligation to remove any snow from their wind-shields and other parts of the vehicle before they start to drive, and to clean the snow from the road if that snow fell of their vehicle. Failure to fulfil this requirement shall be fined in the amount of 50 BAM. The Republic of Srpska Ministry of Interior appeals to the citizens to obey the regulations defining the obligation to use the winter equipment in order to increase the safety of traffic participants.   Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE
