MARKING THE FIGHT AGAINST ADDICTION DISEASES MONTH IN THE PRIMARY SCHOOL

Today, in Bijeljina, the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, in cooperation with the Commission for Fighting Narcotic Drugs Abuse in the Republic of Srpska, organized a central event marking the Fighting against Addiction Diseases Month.In his address to the public on this occasion, the Deputy Director of the Republic of Srpska Police, Mr. Radomir Domuzin, emphasised that, in the recent years, the Republic of Srpska Police carried out numerous preventive and repressive actions to fight against the abuse of narcotic drugs, and that this year, ten percent more drugs were seized than the previous year. He explained that the education about the harmfulness of the use of narcotic drugs was directed at sixth and seventh graders. In addition, Mr. Domuzin said that a series of police training sessions were organized with police officers, particularly about the new types of drugs on the market. President of the Commission for Fighting Narcotic Drugs Abuse in the Republic of Srpska, Mr. Milan Latinović, said that the activities within marking the Fight against Addiction Diseases Month in the primary school were focused on the prevention of the use of narcotic drugs, alcohol and tobacco. In this regard, he provided data from a survey conducted in 2011, according to which 5 percent of young people aged 15 had already tried some drug, mostly marijuana, 70 percent had used alcohol, and 35 percent of young people had smoked tobacco and tobacco products. He said that new survey in the Republic of Srpska would be conducted next year, as well as investigation of presence of drugs in schools by testing surfaces in the premises on traces of drugs, which reveals the problem, but does not stigmatize children.Marking the Fight against Addiction Diseases Month was organised in primary school “Knez Ivo od Semberije” in Bijeljina. On this occasion, a play was performed and an exhibition of students’ works was held in the school; members of the Police Administration Bijeljina held a demonstrative tactical exercise; the police officers and primary students played a basketball match and expert training session on health harms of drugs was delivered in the city Health Center.Next week, members of the police administrations of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior will also mark the Fight against Addiction Diseases Month through educational activities for citizens in their local communities.     Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE
