With the purpose of decreasing the number of persons driving under the influence of alcohol and increasing the traffic safety, the Republic of Ministry of the Interior, in cooperation with the Ministry of Traffic and Communications, Traffic Safety Agency, Auto-Moto Association of the Republic of Srpska, Administration for Inspection Affairs, local management unit and the company ”Molson Coors”, as the strategic partner, started the implementation of the preventive campaign entitled ”Celebrate responsibly! Don’t drink and drive!”Head of the Uniformed Police Administration of the RS MoI, Mr. Dragan Jevđenić, pointed out that the traffic safety on the RS territory is satisfactory. He said that the number of traffic accidents this year has decreased by 20%.Head Jevđenić also stated that out the total number of 8,700 traffic accidents that happened this year, in 897 cases the driver was under the influence of alcohol, meaning every tenth driver. Additionally, he emphasized that the RS MoI is undertaking increased measures of traffic control within this campaign that will last from that day until the end of January.Mr. Milija Radović, Director of the Traffic Safety Agency of the Republic of Srpska, said that alcohol and driving do not go well together, emphasizing that alcohol significantly decreases the physical and mental ability of the driver. He added that the message regarding the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol will be sent to more than 20 local communities in the Republic of Srpska using a special advertising vehicle, and through billboards, commercials and leaflets.The Republic of Srpska Ministry of Interior once again appeals to motor vehicle drivers not to use their vehicles while under the influence of alcohol, and to obey the traffic regulations in order to increase both their safety and the safety of other traffic participants.   Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE
