SENIOR STAFF MEETING OF THE RS MINISTRY OF THE INTERIOR

Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Srpska, Mr. Dragan Lukač, held today in Banja Luka the senior staff meeting of the Ministry attended by senior officials of this Ministry.Minister Lukač pointed out that the number of criminal offences in the first 11 months has decreased when compared to last year, stating the total number of 8,089 criminal offences, 5.4% less than in the same period last year. The Minister informed the attendants that the number of thefts has decreased by 10.1%, aggravated thefts by 19.9% and robberies by 23%, which was evaluated as the result of establishment of the Administration for Organized and Serious Crime. Also, he emphasized that there were 13 homicides in the first 11 months of this year, being 9 less than in the same period last year, and all homicides were disclosed. There were 678 cases of drug abuse, and the number of disclosed criminal offences in this area has increased by 21.4%, and 18.8% in the area of economic crime.The Minister said that the implementation of traffic control system is in its final stage, meaning that approximately 100 vehicle speed control cameras and video surveillance will be installed in 34 municipalities on the territory of the Republic of Srpska. The project has already been implemented in 20 municipalities, and still being worked on in the remaining 10.Also, he stated that the RS MoI will provide secure and peaceful celebration of the holidays on streets and public squares for the citizens.
