Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, in cooperation with the OSCE Mission to BiH and the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) based in Warsaw,  organizes a three-day workshop for members of the Ministry on the topic of police work in connection with public assemblies. The training program is based on examples of the best practices contained in the ODIHR's Handbook on Police Work in connection with public assemblies. Training is interactive, based on real-life examples and focused on international standards, key principles of the work of police officers in relation to public assemblies, communication with organizers of assemblies, etc. Introductory speech was given by the Head of the Police Administration, Mr Dragan Jevđenić. The training will be delivered by Gerry White, a member of the OSCE Panel of Experts on Freedom of Assembly and Anita Danka, Legal Adviser at the ODIHR in Warsaw. Head of the Administration for Police Education, Mr Mile Šikman, emphasised that this is a good opportunity to exchange best practices and experiences on important and sensitive issues, such as the freedom of assembly of citizens. Namely, this right is guaranteed, not only by international documents, but also by the Constitution of the Republic of Srpska, which puts the Ministry under the obligation to ensure its unimpeded implementation. "On the other hand, one should be aware of the fact that the right of free assembly of citizens can be restricted in accordance with legally prescribed conditions. That's why it is necessary to strike a balance between the freedom of assembly and possible restrictions to it, “Mr Šikman said.   Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE
