ARRESTED ONE OF THE ATTACKERS ON THE JOURNALIST VLADIMIR KOVAČEVIĆ

    Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Dragan Lukač, Republic of Srpska Police Director, Mr Darko Ćulum, and Head of Banja Luka Police Administration, Mr Željko Spasojević, held today in Banja Luka an extraordinary press conference informing the public about the arrest of one individual who participated in the attack on Vladimir Kovačević. Minister Lukač said that person M.Č. was arrested after a comprehensive investigation, whereas the other person is being looked for. He pointed out that this case had no political background and that it was not ordered by the authorities, as some of the media announced. Minister Lukač emphasized that the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior will not tolerate any attacks, both physical and verbal, on journalists, and he asked the journalists to report any threats or attacks to the police. With regard to the murder of D.O. that was committed in Banja Luka a few days ago, Director Ćulum said that the police are intensively working on disclosure of this criminal offence, and that they found weapon and the vehicle that were used for this murder. He added that there were 161 murders in the period from 2011 until that day, 52 of them being committed by an unknown perpetrator. He stated that the total disclosure of murders committed by an unknown perpetrator was 82.2%, and that undisclosed murders are still being worked on. Head of the Banja Luka Police Administration, Mr Željko Spasojević, said that the police searched six locations resolving the attack on Vladimir Kovačević, and that during the searches the police seized objects and traces that will be used as evidence of the criminal offence, and that all other measures and operations are undertaken and monitored by the competent prosecutor’s office. In the end, Minister Lukač invited all the citizens to refrain from any incidents during the pre-election campaign, emphasizing that the Republic of Srpska Police will not allow anyone to endanger another during the pre-election activities, and that the police officers will penalize anyone trying to do so.              Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE
