CONFERENCE ON COUNTERING CYBERCRIME IN BANJA LUKA

Today, in Banja Luka, head of the Crime Police Administration of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, Mr Siniša Kostrešević, opened the conference ‘Public-private partnership in countering cybercrime and obtaining illegal material gain’, realized within ‘Iproceeds’ project, supported by the Council of Europe and European Commission. In addition to the representatives of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior (the RS MoI), the Conference was attended by the representatives from the banking sector and internet service providers. Mr Kostrešević pointed out that the RS MoI is committed to decisively fight against cybercrime and that he had had excellent cooperation with the private sector. He added that the best results in this field could be achieved only with a comprehensive inclusion of all relevant partners with adequate use of capacities and resources. ‘Iproceeds’ project is a regional programme for Southeast Europe financed by the European Commission and implemented by the Council of Europe. The aim of the project is finding a solution for countering cybercrime, mapping and seizing the illegally obtained property on the Internet, preventing money laundering online, strengthening legislation, training prosecutors and strengthening international cooperation and information exchange among cyber units.
