Meeting of the Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior with the Chief of OSCE Mission to BiH

The Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Dragan Lukač, met today in Banja Luka with Ambassador Bruce Berton, Chief of Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina. During the meeting they discussed the current security situation in the Republic of Srpska, with particular emphasis on the upcoming elections in BiH and public assemblies. Minister Lukač pointed out that the Republic of Srpska MoI is a professional structure that will provide democratic and safe fulfillment of rights to all the citizens of the Republic of Srpska. Discussing the freedom of media in BiH, OSCE Chief of Mission extended to Minister Lukač appreciation of OSCE for excellent engagement of police officers and solving the case of the attack on reporter, Mr Vladimir Kovačević. Both Minister Lukač and Ambassador Berton evaluated the cooperation of RS MoI and OSCE as successful, especially in terms of implemented workshops and trainings on countering corruption, prejudice, hate crimes etc. Furthermore, special emphasis was placed on the participation of the representatives of the Ministry in the project ”Capacity Building for Criminal Justice Practitioners Combating Cybercrime and Cyber-enabled Crime”, training on the topic Public Assemblies, as well as OSCE conference ”Media and Terrorism”, held on the mountain of Jahorina on 1-2 September.
