The Republic of Srpska

              From 24 to 28 September, the representatives of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior participated in the Expert Evaluation Mission in the field of reducing supply and demand of narcotic drugs in BIH: institutional framework and cooperation, implemented by European Commission in BIH.             As a part of the Mission, the EC experts and the representatives of the Ministry and other competent Ministries and institutions discussed about the role of the Republic of Srpska Government Commission for repression of the abuse of narcotic drugs, the role, functioning and resources of the Ministry of the Interior: Department for monitoring and implementation of the Strategy of monitoring narcotic drugs and repression of the abuse of narcotic drugs, as well as the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior Administration for countering organized and serious crime, and Ministry of Health and Social Welfare. The aim of implementing Expert missions is evaluating the real situation in the field, and EU experts analyze in detail the institutional, legal, strategic and other capacities of competent institutions and bodies for implementing the legal framework in topical fields, as well results achieved in practice. After that, the experts make the report with detailed analysis and recommendations for improving the actions in concrete fields that are then sent to competent institutions. Expert evaluation mission represents one of the mechanisms through which the European Commission, after submitting the Request for EU membership, gathers additional information on the current situation in BIH in the selected fields and evaluates the compliance with the requests and practices of the European Union. Information and documents gathered through expert missions and talks with the competent institutions, public institutions and companies, syndicates, associations and other interested parties in BIH, will serve to the EC in the process of preparing the Opinion on the Request of BIH for EU Membership (Avis).
