Fourth session of the RS Coordination body for monitoring movement of illegal migrants

The Republic of Srpska Coordination body for monitoring movement of illegal migrants held its 4th session and analysed the current state of play and adopted the following conclusions:   1. The Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior shall continue to provide maximum assistance to the BiH Border Police in protecting the border line from illegal entrance and preventing the entrance of illegal migrants.   2. The Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior shall not allow unsurveilled movement of migrants and for that purpose shall intensify its work on the territory of all police administrations. The Ministry is engaged in finding and identifying illegal migrants in cooperation with the local communities and citizens.   3. The Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior shall continue its activities in detecting organized criminal gropus and individuals committing the criminal offence of People smuggling.   4. The Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior shall initiate a meeting with the representatives of the prosecutor’s office for the purpose of efficient prosecution of migrants in cases when the latter are perpetrators of criminal offences.   In the course of 2018, the police officers of the Ministry of the Interior found 4,426 migrants who illegaly entered the BiH territory. The highest number of migrants was found on the territory of Bijeljina Police Administration. In more than 90% of cases, the found migrants had no identification documents, and 95% of them were men.During the period from 1 January to 31 October 2018, the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior submitted 35 reports to the Prosecutor's Office of BIH against 45 persons suspected of committing 37 criminal offences of 'People smuggling' (Art. 189 of BIH CC).
