THE MINISTRY OF THE INTERIOR NETWORK OF WOMEN REPRESENTATIVES AT ‘WOMEN, PEACE AND SECURITY’ CONFERENCE

     The representatives of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior Network of Women participate at a three-day conference called ‘Women, peace and security’, which started yesterday, on 6 March 2019 in Sarajevo. The Conference was organised by the Joint HQ of BIH Armed Forces in cooperation with British Embassy in BIH.      The Conference ‘Women, peace and security’ is organised in Europe for the first time, and its aim is to consider the implementation level of the UN Security Council Resolution no. 1325. The Resolution refers to the promotion of gender equality, including the improvement of the status and greater representation of women in institutions and organisations competent for the affairs in the field of defence and security, as well as the role of women in peacekeeping missions.       In the introductory speech, the attendees were addressed by the head of the Joint HQ of BIH Armed Forces, general-colonel Senad Mašović and the United Kingdom Ambassador to BIH, Mr Matthew Field. In addition to the representatives of the Ministry of Defence and Security of BIH, the Conference was attended by the representatives of armed forces from the countries in the region, the special representative of the NATO Secretary General for the issues of gender equality, Ms Clare Hutchinson, the commander of NATO HQ in Sarajevo, Brigadier General Marty J. Bissell, the representative of the UK Ministry of Defence, Ms Sarah Graham, and the representatives of international and domestic organisations, agencies and associations dealing with issued in this field.
