      On the occasion of May 25th – International Day of Missing Children, the Ministry of the Interior is carrying out a preventive campaign ”Growing up safely”, with the purpose of raising public awareness on the need to protect children on their way to and from school.       On the occasion, the pupils of second and third grade of the Elementary School ”Vuk Stefanovic Karadzic” in Banja Luka, had a lecture on secure behaviour.       The Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Dragan Lukac, pointed out that there were no cases of missing children in the Republic of Srpska, and that during the last year 27 children were reported missing, but were quickly found safe and sound. ”We explained them how to act on their way from home to school, even though children of this age mostly go to school accompanied”, said the Minister.        He added that they particularly pointed out that children must not talk to any strangers or get in their car. Minister Lukac reminded that Srpska implemented the school policeman programme and that they were often present in schools. Mr Simeun Raljic, Assistant to Director in the   Elementary School ”Vuk Stefanovic Karadzic” in Banja Luka, welcomed this activity of the Ministry of the Interior, pointing out that no incidents of this type have been registered in that school. He also said that children who attend that school, come to classes accompanied by their parents until the third grade.         Along with this lecture in Elementary School ”Vuk Stefanovic Karadzic”, the members of the Banja Luka Police Administration shared promotion material to the citizens, providing advice on how the act in case their child is missing.
