MINISTER LUKAČ HELD A RECEPTION FOR PARTICIPANTS OF PEACEKEEPING MISSIONS

       On the occasion of International Day of UN Peacekeepers, the Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Dragan Lukač, organized today in Banja Luka a reception for the members of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior participating in peacekeeping missions.      Minister Lukač said that there were 11 members of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior currently deployed to UN Peacekeeping missions worldwide – 7 in South Sudan, 3 in Cyprus and 1 in Congo.      The Minister pointed out that their work was recognized, successful and praised, and therefore they will have the support of the public institutions, adding that the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior is putting efforts to increase the number of police officers in those missions.       Police officer of Bijeljina Police Administration, Gordana Mitrović, who spent three years in the UN Peacekeeping mission in South Sudan, said that the experience she acquired was priceless, and that the mission was both great honour and responsibility because she represented the country and the Ministry.      Police officer of Banja Luka Police Administration, Miroslav Milojević, who held a professional position within the UN Police working as expert in countering transnational crime, representing the RS MoI at the same time, said that the Republic of Srpska Police had high-quality staff able to work side by side with their counterparts all over the world.        The members of this Ministry have been participating in UN peacekeeping missions since 2000, and so far there have been 83 deployed members in regular, professional and non-seconded positions in East Timor, Liberia, Cyprus, Sudan, South Sudan, Congo, Guinea Bissau and Brindisi (Italy).   Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE
