The Republic of Srpska

     The Ministry of the Interior has decided to reorganize its intervention forces for the purpose of faster and more efficient response to the security challenges we are facing with in the Republic of Srpska, including a large number of illegal migrants, and with the objective of better functioning, the Support Units will change its name to the Gendarmerie, which will be additionally staffed by the active officers of the Ministry of the Interior, primarily young police officers who acquired police education at the Police Academy.      We believe that the Ministry of the Interior in this way - with well-equipped, professionally trained and specialized forces, will be able to cope with the security challenges that the police will face with in the future.        Considering the fact that the establishment of a reserve police force requires a longer period of time and resources in terms of conducting competitive procedures and selection, equipping with uniforms and other appropriate equipment, as well as the time for adequate training in order to put the reserve force of the police in operation, the articles regarding the reserve police forces are withdrawn from the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Police and Internal Affairs of the Republic of Srpska, that is currently in the procedure with the Republic of Srpska National Assembly.     The Ministry of the Interior will reassess the needs and possibilities for the introduction of reserve police within the structures of the Ministry in the future.
