The Republic of Srpska

Members of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior and Ministry of Justice, supported by the Helicopter Service of the Republic of Srpska, firefighting service, and emergency service, successfully carried out the joint demonstrative and tactical training-exercise in Foča, thus demonstrating a high level of training and readiness to act in crisis situations.       The first part of training – fugitive chase and hostage crisis, was performed on the streets of municipality of Foča, in Aqua Park ’’Ušće’’, and on Drina River, while the second part of training was performed within the walls of Correctional Institution Foča, where the members of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior and Ministry of Justice showed successful coordination in prison riot and hostage crisis situation.       Two special transport vehicles ’’Despot’’ and the same number of helicopters and speed boats were used in the exercise, and as well as police dogs trained to catch fugitives.        The Republic of Srpska Police Director, Mr Darko Ćulum, said that this exercise was a good test on mutual coordination, as well as on training and equipment of the units for performing the most difficult tasks.  Furthermore, he stated that intervention forces were sufficiently trained and equipped to withstand all security challenges and deal with any crisis in the area of the Republic of Srpska.      Assistant Minister of Justice, Mr Pero Dunjić, said that all units showed excellent training, and that they were trained to act successfully in all possible situations and to perform the tasks regulated by the law.        Director of Correctional Institution Foča, Mr Siniša Golijanin, pointed out that this was the first exercise of its kind at this institution in 30 years.  In addition, he said that Correctional Institution was never easy to manage, but that the excellent cooperation with the Ministry of the Interior was always present and necessary. The training was attended by the members of the Republic of Srpska MoI Training Centre, Foča Police Administration, Special Anti-Terrorist Unit, Gendarmerie Unit of municipalities of Foča, Trebinje, Istočno  Sarajevo, then MoI Negotiation Team, Court Police Intervention Unit, Helicopter Service, Police and Security Service Unit of Correctional Institution Foča , Special Police Unit of Correctional Institution Banja Luka, Territorial Firefighting Unit, Emergency Service of Foča Health Centre, Health and Firefighting  Service of Correctional Institution Foča.
